Autumn in Somerset

A beautiful time of year when visitors can experience a quieter and calmer Somerset. With fewer crowds, fine weather and a whole host of attractions to visit across the county, sight-seeing in autumn is a real treat. There’s something for all generations to enjoy.

Some of Somerset’s regular Autumn events include:

Sky Safari at Longleat (8-10 September), the skies above Longleat will be filled with the incredible sight of over 150 hot air balloons.  The biggest gathering of balloons in the UK will get together and fill the sky with colour

Somerset County Show showcases the very best that Somerset has to offer. Held over two days on 16th& 17th September   at Taunton Racecourse, there will be a full programme of all things Somerset including; music, displays, cooking demos and much more.

EAT Food Festival With over 80 food and drink producers, circus skills, face painting, Punch & Judy shows, balloon modelling and much more there is something to entertain all the family. The Eat festival will take place  in Wellington on Saturday 2nd September and also in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 23rdSeptember between 10 and 5pm and free to attend.

Why not head out to explore the Somerset landscapes on foot. For a real leg pumper, head into the Quantock Hills and bask in the rolling greenery and incredible views of this glorious Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Other great walks can be found in Exmoor National Park and around the county’s stunning estates and gardens, our favourite is National Trust’s Dunster Castle.
